Rope is a combination of yarns, plies, fibers or strands that are combined together into stronger and more secure form. There are mainly two types of rope: twisted rope and braided rope. Ropes usually have tensile strength and therefore can be used for dragging, lifting, climbing, and even fishing; but are too flexible to provide compressive strength. As a result, they cannot be used for pushing or similar compressive applications. Rope usually is thicker and stronger than similarly constructed cord, string, and twine.
